FDR Park Community Workday 2

Super fun experience. We had really good instructions and got right to work! I learned a lot about the local flora while doing the clean up

I came into the city on Thursday night so I could help out FDR Park this morning. A nice group of, give or take, 30 students from Community Academy Charter School came to help out. They were overdressed, but it was fun. Eduardo was great introducing them to the work and the tools. I worked with a group of 10 cleaning up litter in the playground. We got 6 bags of it between 10 volunteers. Granted the bags weren't full, but it was substantial. The girls and a couple of the guys seemed to like me. It made me happy. They even shouted my name out on the school bus on the way back. I got to meet/get reacquainted with Mr. T, Natalie, Mike, Arisa, and Harley. It's nice to know I'm not alone out there doing this kind of work. It gave me some hope. I saw a woman unaffiliated with us doing litter cleanup in FDR park on her own after our group dispersed.
