Open Volunteer Workday &ndash; Parkside Edge&nbsp;
Thursday, May 29th, 2025
TIME: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (ET)
Join Fairmount Park Conservancy staff for a volunteer day&nbsp;at Parkside Edge. Together, we will work on plant care (weeding and mulching), watering, and trash removal. All tools, including gloves, will be provided.
BACKGROUND
Since 2005, the Conservancy has worked with the Parkside community to build capacity and steward investments in West Fairmount Park. With support from the William Penn Foundation and Knight Foundation, the Parkside Edge project began in 2013. <a href="https://myphillypark.org/what-we-do/capital-projects/centennial-park/" target="_blank" title="https://myphillypark.org/what-we-do/capital-projects/centennial-park/" aria-label="Link Phase one" rel="noopener">Phase one</a>, completed in 2018, added passive recreation areas, seating, picnic areas, landscaping, and rain gardens. <a href="https://myphillypark.org/what-we-do/capital-projects/parkside-pedestrian-improvements/" target="_blank" title="https://myphillypark.org/what-we-do/capital-projects/parkside-pedestrian-improvements/" aria-label="Link Phase two" rel="noopener">Phase two</a>, completed in 2022, included new pedestrian walkways, ADA access, bike lanes, roundabouts, and landscaping. Building on this work, the Conservancy is partnering with Philadelphia Parks &amp; Recreation to engage the community in reimagining <a href="https://myphillypark.org/what-we-do/capital-projects/welsh-fountain/" target="_blank" title="https://myphillypark.org/what-we-do/capital-projects/welsh-fountain/" aria-label="Link Welsh Fountain" rel="noopener">Welsh Fountain</a> and its surrounding landscape. Please join us for our Parkside Edge volunteer workday as we continue to care for this community space.
