Restore the Forgotten Wynnefield Trail

Join us for a volunteer project to clean up and begin restoring a the Wynnefield Trail - a hidden path near Belmont Plateau! The Wynnefield Trail starts at the intersection of Wynnefield & Belmont, and runs through the patch of woods known as the Montgomery Wetland to Belmont Mansion Drive, at the base of Belmont Plateau. This trail will provide easy and safe access to Belmont Plateau and Fairmount Park for Wynnefield residents, who currently have to cross dangerous intersections to access to the park on foot or bike. Help us celebrate and bring attention to this forgotten amenity!

Projects
-Clean up trash and litter
-Cut back overgrowth and remove branches from path
-Sweep pathway
-Clear grass off of trailhead

What to Wear & Bring
-We strongly recommend wearing long pants as parts of the site are overgrown and poison ivy is present. 
-Consider long sleeves as well.
-Please wear closed-toe shoes.
-Please bring a reusable water bottle to keep yourself hydrated. (We will provide jugs of water so you can refill.)

Meet-Up Spot, Parking, Travel
-Meet at the trailhead on Belmont Mansion Drive, across from the softball fields parking lot. 
-Parking is available in the lot at Belmont Mansion & Montgomery.
-Please be extremely careful if biking or walking in this area; traffic moves quickly and sidewalks are not well-maintained.

Other Details
-Please wear a mask (we will have extras available)
-We will provide gloves and all the necessary tools, but feel free to bring your own 
-We will provide bug spray, sunblock, hand sanitizer, snacks, and jug of water
